Geotechnical Operations Manager

Job Description

Established in 2012 iBEX have gone from strength to strength, with our client base and expertise shaping our direction.  The success of the past 7 years has identified our requirement for a Geotechnical Operations Manager to manage this busy aspect our business.  Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be required to actively quote and tender for, as well as manage, projects throughout the UK.

This role will be predominantly office based at our facility in Raglan, South Wales, with regular visits to sites across the UK. The types of Geotechnical projects iBEX are working on include, soil nailing, rock bolting, rockfall protection netting, descaling, vegetation clearance, retaining walls and other minor civil works.

The position carries a comprehensive package including good salary, profit share scheme, company vehicle, expenses credit card and pension.

Essential Qualities

  • Must have a “can do” mentality and be constantly prepared to challenge the norm in a quest to find cost effective, time efficient solutions for clients
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Must be a motivated individual with a desire to help the business evolve and succeed

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Minimum of 3 years operating in a geotechnical capacity with knowledge of geotechnical plant, materials and drilling techniques
  • Knowledge of IRATA rope access methods is an advantage but not essential as we have a wealth of rope access experience within the company
  • Computer skills to include, Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Previous experience of quoting and tender preparation
  • Previous experience of client liaison
  • Detailed knowledge of geotechnical projects

  • Site visits

  • Client liaison and communication
  • Resourcing of personnel and materials

Project Management:

  • Production of relevant health & safety documentation
  • Manage the site team, using IT systems to keep track of people, resources and progress
  • Ensure smooth running of project, keeping all works on time and to budget, being aware of costs at all times
  • Monitoring site staff, ensuring quality and health and safety standards are being adhered to at all times
  • Client and site team liaison

Other Responsibilities:

  • Supporting other areas of the business when required
  • Assist the team seeking and developing new project opportunities
