About This Project
Job: Camps Viaduct and Almondell Bridge Refurbishment – West Lothian
Client: West Lothian Council
Dates: August – October 2015
iBEX successfully tendered for the refurbishment of this 9 span former railway viaduct, built in 1885, standing 25m high and spanning 120m over the River Almond.
- Public access had to be maintained at all times over the viaduct, together with bat and badger license requirements
- Our highly skilled team began extensive vegetation removal from the structure
- Once mortar joints were exposed, we were able to rake out and re-point using lime mortar
- Replacing heavily corroded balustrading and surface preparation and painting of existing balustrading
- iBEX also laid 500m2 of new Ultitrec surfacing to the bridge deck and renewed the drainage system
- Flexibility and close communication with the client were essential to the success of this project, constant budget spend re-evaluation meant the project was delivered on time and to budget to a very satisfied client
